Treasurer Report
Funds status was reviewed and accepted.   A motion to pay Dale’s expenses to the PtHA
Convention was passed at this time.
Royalty Report
Laura reported that @$250 was raised at the banquet raffles and auctions.  There are some very
specific, quality items that have been donated to PtHAWW Royalty that club members may wish to
purchase.   Laura has field boots, English cinches, fly repellent and such miscellaneous stuff that
doesn’t lend itself to ‘auction’ but might be just what you need.  (Darry’s riding English this year
and needs boots?)   Laura will try to pack this stuff to the April show, or you can get in touch with
her directly about what she has.
Scholarship Committee
Mary, Heather and Doug have volunteered to deal with the 2008 PtHAWW Scholarship program.
The club has voted to continue at the same level again this year.
Year-end Banquet/Awards
A good time was had by all and serious expressions of gratitude are extended to all those who
helped with preparation, execution, and clean up.  Awards were handed out but many recipients
were not present to pick up their certificates, etc.   Julie Sampson has been left holding the bag
and you may contact her to make arrangements to get your awards.   Of course awards will be
available to pick up at the April show as well.   Apparently they like us a King Oscar’s because we’
ve been thanked for our patronage and invited to use their facilities again next year.
Attention all youth and adults with youth spirit:
Are you interested in getting to know other youth in PtHAWW? Or maybe you just want to
get away from the competition for a while. Well come join the Youth Spirit Club. Starting this show
season we are going to be holding a “meeting” with anyone interested in having fun. There’s
going to be pizza, games, and a ton of laughs. This idea was brought to the board by Danielle
Smith and Mallory Dobbs, so if you have any questions contact them. Hope to see everyone so we
can add some fun to the shows!!!

2008 Show Dates

       Let’s Go Show – April 18, 19, 20
       Big Six – July 18, 19, 20
       Poor Boy Show – Sept 12, 13, 14

Awards for the April show have been ordered and are expected to by received and ready in time.
As long as we have no more truck wrecks to deal with this year we should be good to go.

Two issues were discussed regarding the 2008 show structure.   It was noted that the premium
for the September Poor Boy show does not reflect our traditional price break for that show. This
results in the fact we do not give out first place awards at the Poor Boy show.   A motion to table
resolution of that issue until after the April show was passed and further discussions will occur
then.  Direction to Add Elite (55 and over) classes to our class list came from PtHA.  An addendum
to the class list will be prepared and made available at the show.   While this may add
approximately 10 classes to our schedule, it is expected that many of these will not fill and will
end up being combined classes.

In response to the need to try to increase participation at our shows, Dale and Vanessa (jointly
with Mike’s Western Suppliers and CL Western Clothing of Enumclaw) are sponsoring a Circle Y
western saddle to be raffled at the Let’s Go April show.   Entries will be awarded to participants
for each five classes entered and/or may be purchased for $10 each.   The winner can select their
choice of saddle color, tree width, and seat size.   If a significant increase in class participation
results, the club will be asked to consider funding a Crates saddle for the Big Six show.

The meeting was adjourned at @8:00

Next scheduled meeting will be at Dirty Dave’s in Olympia on April 8, 2008.  Dinner at 6pm and

Queen Laura’s Corner

Hello Everyone!
Well the April Show seems to be coming fast, as many of us gathered for our annual end of
the year awards banquet.  We had a lot of good food, as usual, and loads of fun with our 50/50
royalty raffle, gift exchange, and prize raffle. Although, our two junior princesses could
unfortunately not make it, we did have visiting royalty; Miss Kitsap Saddle Club, Danielle Todd,
who came to help crown us and was very enthusiastic and we had a blast getting to know her.
Another part this year was my enormous table of random items for my silent auction which people
had fun browsing through and bidding on.  We also got to hear about the new plans to involve
the youth into more of a family oriented group by Danielle Smith and the new reserve high point
awards for the youth which were all fantastic ideas! It is really great to see us all coming together
again to make this next year even better. If you were not able to make it, there is no need to
worry; we will crown our junior princesses at the April show as well as there will be some more
goodies for bargain bidding! Hope you are all having a great spring and are getting ready for our
first big show. I will see you there!

Laura Henning

Additional Communication

Last week, a long time supporter of Pinto horses, John Iden, passed away amongst family and
friends.  John and his wife, Lynn, own quite a few Arabian/Pinto horses – one of them being our
club Year End High Point Halter Pleasure Mare winner – Thee Dancing Queen DW.  John
thoroughly enjoyed watching our shows and loved watching all of his horses being shown.  John’
s smile and cheery conversation will be missed by everyone.  Our condolences to Lynn and John’
s family.

Crystal Baker will be taking time off from a heavy training and lesson schedule to regain her
health.  Crystal underwent heart surgery less than 2 months ago and needs to concentrate on her
rehabilitation program.   Apparently her cardiologist made it very clear that if she continued to
ignore these programs, the next step will be a pacemaker.  In amongst all of Crystal’s health
issues, her father continues to battle pancreas cancer.  We hope God’s peace stays with both of
them through these difficult times.
